It started with “Is that good?”
Apple Pay merchants could see what their payment provider charged and declined. They couldn’t see how many shoppers opened the Apple Pay sheet and gave up, or whether their numbers were any good.
When sales fell, they emailed the Apple Pay team. The team worked each case in Salesforce, which merchants never saw, so the next email was often “any update?”.
The Merchant Portal gives merchants their own numbers next to a fair benchmark, and sends their cases to Apple’s merchant support and operations teams in Salesforce. I designed it as the UX/UI designer on a team of 12, with a product manager, engineers, QA and business analysts.
An Apple tool under NDA. Shops, people, rates and case numbers are illustrative.
